Sembène Film Festival: Eddie Jefferson documentary

Jazz legend Eddie Jefferson was born in Pittsburgh 101 years ago and went on to become an innovator of the genre, as one of the first to add words to solo jazz improvisation. City of Asylum will host a screening of Eddie Jefferson LIVE in concert from the Jazz Showcase at Alphabet City, featuring the musician’s last recorded performance in 1976. Saxophonist Richie Cole, who appears in the film, will lead a Q&A after the screening.
