Off Minor Jazz: Celebrating Ray Brown

Please join City of Asylum for a concert celebrating the music of Ray Brown, as part of our Off Minor Jazz Series! Pittsburgh-born “Jazz Master” Ray Brown pioneered the solo spotlight on the bass. Along with Jimmy Blanton and Oscar Pettiford, Brown was a virtuoso timekeeper and soloist who set the standard for future generations of bassists. In this edition of the Off Minor Jazz series, we feature several of Pittsburgh’s top jazz bassists in various configurations in a celebration of Ray Brown’s amazing life in music.
