Video premiere: Dylan Ryan (Rainbow Arabia, Cursive)

Dylan Ryan bridges a lot of musical gaps: The Chicago-born, L.A.-based drummer came up on heavy metal, moved on to jazz, and has toured with the first-generation emo band Cursive. His current main project is a trio called Dylan Ryan / Sand — he shares the band with Timothy Young and Devin Hoff, both noted session and touring players. Recently, the band released Circa, its sophomore album, on Cuneiform Records. Today, we're premiering a brand-new video from the trio; the songs is "Trees, Voices, Saturn," and the video features lots of found footage and aerobics and jiu jitsu and weird computer landscapes.

Ryan and band are about to embark on a Midwest tour that brings them to Thunderbird Cafe on Tue., Nov. 11; see the full tour agenda below.
